We were very kindly invited to try a takeaway from Dr Al Forno this week.  Based at the White Horse pub in Widcombe, you can either collect from the side door, or order for delivery via Uber Eats or Deliveroo.
The menus are on their Instagram page, as well as the delivery apps above, and there's lots to choose from.  There are two menus, cook at home, which comprises of lovely fresh pasta and sauces, or the ready cooked meals.  We opted for the ready cooked, and were very pleased.

To start we had the Focaccina Aglio Olio e Peperoncino, (£3.50) an individual focaccia topped with garlic, extra virgin olive oil and chilli, and the Focaccina Margherita, (£4.50) an individual focaccia topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil.  Both were deliciously moreish, a light chewy texture, complimented by the garlic and the tomato.  A perfect start.

The first main we chose was the Lasagna, (£9) - Six layered spinach egg pasta, slow cooked pork and beef ragu, bechamel, mozzarella, and grana padano.  A taste sensation and really rich and filling, the ragu was tender and the pasta cooked to perfection.  We loved this dish.

Our second main was Pasta al forno (£9), Oven baked pasta, meatballs, prosciutto cotto, tomato sauce, béchamel, mozzarella and Grana Padano.  This was gorgeous, tasty tomato sauce, cheesy, rich and filling.  The meatballs were really good, and it was a very generous portion.

For dessert, we chose the Chocolate Salame (£3.50), Dark chocolate, rum, and biscuits, shaped as salami.  Rich, super soft and almost like a torte, this was absolutely fantastic, and a lovely way to finish our meal.  The second dessert was a Sporcamuss (dirty-muzzle) (£2.50) - Traditional Apulian puff pastry filled with creme patisserie, which was light, with a slight lemony flavoured cream - perfect!

If you want a full on Italian gastronomic experience in the comfort of your own home, you really should try Dr Al Forno, you won't be dissappointed.  We plan on ordering from the cook at home menu next time, yum!
