8 Bridge St, Bath BA2 4AS. 01225 421850 www.nataco.co.uk You've probably heard of Nata & Co - their reputation around Bath for their gorgeous Pastel de Nata is legendary. However, you might not know that they have a stunning Portuguese (with a hint of Brazilian) restaurant upstairs. Recently opened, we were invited to try out the restaurant earlier this week. We were lucky enough to have timed our visit perfectly with the first sunny day in what felt likes months, so Portugese food seemed very fitting. The upstairs restaurant is a real hidden gem, tastefully decorated, elegant and with stunning views across to the Victoria Art Gallery and Pulteney Weir, it really is a fabulous location. We ordered a glass of wine each (also bottles available to order) from the extensive wine list, and were treated to a little appetiser whilst we enjoyed our drink and tried to decide what to order. To start, we chose the Croquete de Alheira & Queijo da Serra (£6.95) and the Salada de Polvo (£5.95). Both dishes were utterly delicious, the croquettes were crisp and filled with spiced sausage and melting sheeps cheese centres, a fabulous flavour combination complimented perfectly with the slightly sweet chutney. The octopus salad was so tender, light delicate flavours with a wonderful texture - a delight. For our main course we went for the Prego Bun (£11.95) - Picana thin cut 21 day aged rump steak served in a bolo do caco bun with a fried egg, garlic mayo, salad and chunky chips and the Camarao Tigre (£16.95) - a large tiger prawn served with homemade garlic butter. For sides with the prawn we chose chunky chips (£2.95) and Fried Polenta (£2.95). Both dishes were so incredibly tasty. The steak was so tender and full of flavour, it was like a refined burger, with far more style and flavour! The prawn was moist, juicy and had all the authenic Portuguese flavours that brought back memories of past holidays. The polenta was divine, and the chunky chips a real treat. We shared a dessert as we were so full, but we could not leave without trying the Pastel de Nata. It was served with a simple elegant vanilla ice cream - the perfect combination. In summary, the restaurant upstairs in Nata & Co is one of our new favourites for sure. We genuinely could not fault anything about our visit or the food. The service was impecable, Urico was charming and informative about the food, the building and the company. We really enjoyed our evening at Nata & Co and really hope that the word gets out about this hidden gem!
You can pop by or ring ahead to book a table (probably best to book for the weekend), and they serve breakfast, lunch and evening meals, open until 10pm. We will be heading back very soon!

16 Windsor Villas, Bath BA1 3DJ 01225 311525 www.indianpizzacompany.co.uk Having built a strong reputation on delivery services over the last few months, the Indian Pizza Company opened the doors on their sparkly new restaurant last night. We were lucky enough to be invited along to sample the menu, and it did not disappoint. On arrival we noted the tables were spaced well apart, and with all COVID safety measures in place, we felt very safe dining in. We were swiftly presented with the menu and a complimentary welcome drink, which was utterly delicious and comprised of a shot of gin with homemade lemon and lime, lemonade and mint. The little corn snacks were also a welcome treat. All pizzas are thin crust, stone baked hand stretched Neapolitan style, with the option of gluten free, and vegan mozzarella. Everything is cooked right infront of you and takes just minutes. I chose the New Delhi Feast (£14.95) which consisted of a tomato masala base (delicious), pepperoni, tandoori chicken, spiced Indian sausage, charred bhavnagri peppers, garlic ghee and mozzarella. The pizzas are huge, and a real feast. The flavours were spicy yet moorish, and every bite was a taste sensation offering a new flavour combination each time. My husband chose the Tamil Prawns (£13.50) which was also stunningly tasty, made up of garlic marinated prawns, green chilli, tumeric, fennel seeds with garden peas, garlic ghee and mozzarella. This pizza was less spicy than mine, with succlulent juicy prawns and a delicious light flavour. For our side we chose Masala wedges (£4), coated in IPC dressing, fresh chilli, tumeric and curry tamarind mayo. Super tasty, my only wish would have been for more of that super flavoursome mayo to dunk them in!
We brought home a few slices of each pizza as we just could not finish them - we are looking forward to having them for lunch today. Drinkswise, there are wines and Prosecco by the glass and bottle, as well as Cobra lager, alcohol free lager and soft drinks. There is outside seating as well as the indoor tables, and you can phone ahead to order and/or book. IPC is also available on Uber Eats. We highly recommend - great service, speed, and quality of food. We can't wait to go back, and will be ordering a home delivery soon too! |
