We kicked things off with Ponters’ Bloody Mary’s, and some seriously tasty snacks – the mushroom croquettes were creamy and crisp, and Emberwood’s signature pickles had the perfect zing.


Next came the Padron peppers from the Isle of Wight (a smoky, salty delight) and the crispy Porthilly oysters – crunchy on the outside, melt-in-the-mouth inside with a secret ketchup that was amazing!


Starters arrived, the beef tartare was rich and perfectly seasoned, and the chicken liver parfait was smooth, decadent, and totally moreish.


For mains, we shared the côte de boeuf, cooked medium rare and absolutely stunning. Absolute steak perfection right cooked right in front of us by Isauro, melt in the mouth and full of flavour. Paired with buttery Koffmann chips and sweet, snappy asparagus, it was one of the best steaks we have ever had.


Dessert was a showstopper thanks to the beautiful dessert trolley – tough choices, but we went for the miso tart and miso yuzu choux bun. Both utterly stunning – a perfect sweet-savory balance.


Everything was paired with fantastic wines, and the service was flawless. Huge thanks to David, the executive chef, Isauro for the steak of dreams, Dinesh for the wonderful desserts and Lucy, our brilliant waitress, for making the night so special. Thanks also to Ben, Bella and Leah.
